JOE GIBBS RACING OIL

Our search for the perfect engine oil for the Porsche high performance and racing engine has ended. We have tried many oils over the last few years. All off them seemed to fall short of fully protecting the motor. As it turns out, there are good reasons for that.

Many of the key ingredients required to sustain a high performance engine have been greatly decreased or removed over the last few years due to tightening environmental regulations. The EPA, car manufacturers, and the American Petroleum Institute (API) have legislated the wear protection right out of the over the counter oils for the public. The reduction in Zinc and Phosphorus, which are key to reducing engine wear, has meant we have less protection in our high performance engines.

Premature engine wear and failure have increased while the environmental effects have been reduced. Although we are all for cleaning up the environment, we are also into protecting our investment. In this case our Porsche engine.

For the past five years, Joe Gibbs Racing has invested substantial resources to develop their own performance racing oil that truly delivers more horsepower and maximum engine longevity.

BR (Engine Break-In Oil / 1-2 HOUR - 150-200 MILE)

This petroleum based oil provides superior break-in properties for flat-tappet engines. Perfect for the in-line 4 cylinder Porsche engines like the 924, 924S, 944, 944 Turbo, 944S, 944S2 and 968.

The special additive package promotes ring seal and provides maximum protection for cams and lifters during initial break-in.

This initial break in oil should be ran no more then 1-2 hours or around 150-200 miles maximum then be changed out XP-4.

XP4 (Non-Detergent Race Oil / 500 mile or less oil changes)

A SAE 15W-50, petroleum formula race oil.

XP4 offers lower cost protection for dirt and alcohol fueled engines that change oil after every race to prevent dirt and/or alcohol contamination.

Compatible with methanol and high octane race fuels.

Because it's non-detergent, you should change regularly and not exceed 500 miles. Best for track cars who change their oil often.

HOT ROD (Detergent Petroleum Race Oil / Street or Race oil)

A SAE 15W-50, petroleum formula race oil.

Same level of protection and performance as the XP4 but with detergent additives.

Because it has the detergents, you can use this on street cars where mileage between oil changes can be 3,000 miles. Can also be used on track/race cars if you want to use a detergent oil.

ENGINE ASSEMBLY GREASE

This unique formula completely dissolves in oil and it can be applied to ring lands in order to prevent micro welding during initial break-in. The Joe Gibbs Performance Engine Assembly Grease combined with the MicroZol BR break-in oil provide a proven protection during break-in.

Used by Lindsey Racing during the assembly of every engine we build. We mix the Assembly Grease with BR to get a thick oil paste. Mix to your liking.
