270 RWHP PACKAGE 944 TURBOThe Lindsey Racing 270 Rear Wheel Horse Power Package is a simple bolt on package that takes your 944 Turbo from a mild mannered stock machine to something approaching a 50% increase in RWHP. All that power with something you can install on a Saturday morning. Not to mention at a affordable price!944 Turbo 270 Rear Wheel Horse Power Kit includes:
This package was originally developed for the 1988 and later 944 Turbo "S" models with the K26/8 turbo. So our HP and Torque numbers and dyno charts are from this this model of car. The same kit on the '86-'88 standard 944 Turbo models with a K26/6 turbocharger will make less power simply because of the difference in turbocharger size. We estimate 5-10% less. If you have a K26/8 Turbocharger installed on the '86 through '88 944 Turbo, then you can expect the same numbers as the Turbo S and that we are showing here. The package makes 278 RWHP and an incredible 339.3 Ft. Lbs. of torque at 20psi of boost with 93/94 octane pump gasoline. (See Chart Below) The same packages makes 275.2 RWHP and a very impressive 304 Ft. Lbs. of torque at 15.5 psi of boost on the same fuel. (See Chart Below) These charts and performance numbers are using our 3" Exhaust with the wastegate outlet tied back into the primary exhaust pipe and no catalytic converter. Performance number can be improved with dumping the wastegate to atmosphere. If a street application, and adding a catalytic converter, performance numbers would be less. If both adding a catalytic converter, and dumping the wastegate to atmosphere, performance numbers would be comparable. The reason the HP numbers are similar even though the boost level is quite different is that the turbocharger cannot maintain that high level of boost in the upper RPM range as you approach redline and the boost drops off to a similar pressure. However, where peak torque is measured, near 4,000 RPM, the turbo can maintain the higher pressure so you get more torque at that RPM. To illustrate that, look at the charts are redline and the both have very similar HP and Torque values because the boost would be about the same at that point. The components in these packages have been designed to work in conjunction with each other and have been tested on the dyno, street and track. For instance the fuel and ignition mapping in the chip set for this package is ideal for these modifications. Whether a Street Car, or a Track Car, this systems is for you. As mentioned earlier, on both of these dyno pulls, the boost was falling to the 12 psi range by redline. If you add a Dual Port Wastegate, and a Manual Boost Controller, you can expect the power band to be broader, and you can adjust it from inside the car. |
