K26 TURBOCHARGER REBUILDDo you need to have your K26 turbocharger rebuilt? Lindsey Racing has been offereing rebuilding services for the K26/6 and the K26/8 turbo's for over 20 years. Typical rebuild charge is $400 and turn around time is about 1 week. This assumes your turbocharge is just in need of rebuilding and that it hasn't suffered any major component damage. Examples of major component damage would include the need of a new compressor wheel, turbine wheel/shaft or backing plate. These can get damaged from passing a foriegn object through the turbocharger or from oil starvation or continuing to run the turbocharger once a failure has started. Once failure has started, the extent of the repair or damage can grow quickly if continued to use. In gerenral, if you don't see any visible damage on the two wheels, then likely there is none. You might only see some oily surfaces or feel some excessive play in the shaft. If we discover any additional damage beyond the standard rebuild price, we will call you before proceeding with a quote to see if you want to proceed or have it returned. K26 TURBOCHARGER REBUILD / UPGRADEWhile we have your K26 Turbocharger in for rebuild, we can upgrade the compressor wheel if you wish. This upgrade is a replacement Billet CNC machined Compressor Wheel with improved air flow. We do not quote flow numbers as the manufacturer does not offer any.We only provide pictures for visual comparison in which you can see some substantial differences between the billet and the stock wheel. You can see greater pitch (angle) of the blades. You can see the blades are taller on the Inducer end coming much closer to the surface where the compresor nut rests. You can see the blades extend further out on the Exducer end of the wheel. You can see that the OD of the center hub of the wheel where the blades start is smaller allowing greater air flow area from this hub to the compressor housing. You can also see there is a weight savings going from 2.5 ounces down to 2.3 ounces. This new billet compressor wheel is only available as an optional upgrade when we are already performing a rebuild on your K26/6 or K26/8 turbocharger. The K26/6 and K26/8 wheels are not the same item. We do not offer this for K27's. The cost to upgrade the compressor wheel is $350. |
