BOOST GAUGE INSTALLATION IN 944 TInstalling another boost gauge in the 944 Turbo is a great idea. Not only do you get a more accurate reading of boost but also many gauges also display engine vacuum. That's like two gauges in one. It's necessary to connect the new boost gauge to a vacuum/boost source on the engine. There is a hose running from the intake manifold plenum to the KLR. It's typically white, but over time can turn yellow/brown. This lets the KLR computer know what the boost pressure is on the engine. We like to "T" into this hose to supply both vacuum and boost to the new gauge. We will need to cut this hose. A sharp knife or razor blade works well. Connecting into this hose near the KLR makes for a simple and clean install since the boost gauge will be mounted near by. In this picture, you see that we cut the original KLR hose and installed a "T" along with some of our vacuum hose found in our Vacuum Hose Kits and Manual Boost Controller Kits along with a reducer to the smaller 1/8" line supplied with the boost gauge. This reducer is typically found in the boost gauges hardware bag, but can also be sourced at most any auto parts store. |
