Q: Hi will this shifter work in a stock 87 Porsche 944? Thanks
A: Yes, but it does not take the stock knob. You will need to purchase an aftermarket knob such as a MOMO or something that can attach to a round shaft.
Q: Have I to adjust the threaded part with the ball? I don't understand exactly how it works.
A: It's threaded so you can adjust it up or down which changes the distance between the shaft to the transmission and the pivot at the base of the lever. The higher you go, the less the throw as it more or less changes the ratio of travel by doing so. You can only go until the shaft starts to contact the roof of the tunnel, then lower 1/2 turn and tighten down.
Q: does this come with everything you need to do the install?
A: Yes and No. It doesn't accept the factory shift knob, so you will need to shop for something to fit your taste. You can re-use the stock shift boot if in good condition and/or get one from MOMO.
Q: What is the diameter of the round shaft where a shift knob would be attached? Thanks!
A: 0.600' (15.25mm)

Very, very nice quality and fully adjustable. Comes with two bolts, three shims for your desired height, plus the pivot-point is fully adjustable, as well. A lot of thought went into the design of this part.
**Call me an "Outlaw." But personally, I chose a black Hurst pistol-grip shifter (both powder-coatings matched up quiet well) to mount on top of this masterpiece. The hardware that Lindsey racing provides along with the Hurst hardware kit matched right up and threaded on nicely. If I could post a picture I would gladly do so.
