Lightweight BOSCH Racing Alternator 55 Amp 14v.
NOTE: This alternator has a narrower pivot mounting tab spread. It will not work on a stock alternator bracket without modification.
However it will work on a 944/951/968 engine platform if you use a Lindsey Racing A/C Delete Bracket or Dry Sump Pump/Alternator Bracket.
If you're not putting it on a 944 using our bracket, since it was designed by Bosch for spec engines and race cars, modifications for mounting and belt/pulley configuration will be necessary. The pivot tabs are set up for 8mm bolts. Our brackets have 10mm holes thus utilizing a 10mm diamater bolt. So you will need to enlarge the holes on the alternator pivot tabs by drilling. This alternator comes with a thin profile V-Belt pulley. Unless you're somehow converting to V-Belts, you will want to remove the alternator pulley from your original alternator and transfer it to the Racing Alternator. Because the V pulley is narrower, the threaded front shaft on the alternator is also shorter. The nut goes into a recess in the original pulley, but you will need to make this recess deeper. This will require machining. Machine the depth down until the shafts hole is the same thickness as the the V Belt Pullies. This will allow you to get full thread engagement on the nut. Fits Models:

RACE ALTERNATOR WIRINGWiring AttachmentsThis is how you wire the light weight 50 amp Bosch Racing Alternator we supply. Main Power Out Connect the large Power Output wire to this alternator as it was on the stock alternator. It's the threaded stud type post. Jumper Wire You need to make and install a jumper wire between the threaded stud power out post and the blade terminal. Blue Wire from chassis or charge light. Your original alternator has a small blue wire coming out the end of the harness that attached to a threaded post on your original alternator. You need to attach that blue wire to the blade terminal on the alternator where the jumper wire also attaches. |
